The greatest gospel gap in the world is in 50 countries—these countries have barely any new, thriving churches. And nearly 75% of all the world’s unreached people (3.6 billion) live in 12 of those 50 countries. The people in these 12 countries have the least access to the gospel in their own language.

We can engage in strategic, focused prayer for the 12 countries of the world that are least reached with the gospel without ever leaving home.

Every month in 2024 we’ll feature one of these countries, familiarize you with its culture and share prayer requests addressing the country’s specific needs. We believe the light of Jesus can shine through!

All About Russia

Russia is a vast and diverse country. It is made up of over 6 million square miles and it spans 11 time zones, making it by far the largest country in the world. Over 180 ethnic groups call Russia home. Join us this month to learn more about this diverse country, and to pray for those there who don’t yet know Jesus.

Russia is known for two fascinating aspects. First, Russia is famous for its excellent ballet programs and performers. Then, there are the space dogs! In the 1950s and 1960s, Russia launched dogs into space to test whether humans could eventually go there as well. So, you’ve got elegant dancers and pioneering space canines—both iconic parts of Russian culture!

Russia is home to the coldest inhabited place on Earth: the village of Oymyakon. In the winter, temperatures drop far below freezing—as low as -90°F (-67.7°C).

The Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg is famous for its vast collection of over three million items, whose origins span from prehistoric times to the present.

This time of year, Russians are probably missing the “White Nights” of the summer, when the sun almost never sets and parties go on into the early morning hours!

Russia is home to the longest railway in the world. The Trans-Siberian Railway, built in 1916, stretches over about 5,700 miles (9,000 kilometers) and crosses the entire country from Moscow to Vladivostok.

Using Scripture is a great way to pray for yourself and your family and friends—not just for people far away. Pray this over your loved ones and for every Christian in Russia: 

“Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.” — Colossians 3:1-2, New International Version

Pray that the Holy Spirit will give Russian Christians the boldness to live strong and daring, Christ-like lives capable of bringing transformation to Russian society.

Ask for God to open doors for women’s ministry that will provide relevant resources and relationships so that women throughout Russia can hear about God’s great love for them.
